The Free Trade Zones & General Services Employees’ Union says it has informed international labour unions of the damages caused to workers in the recent clash at the Katunayake FTZ.

We have notified the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) in regard to the incident, especially due to the silent policy observed by the government, co-secretary of the union Anton Marcus said.

He further stated that the government has so far failed to provide compensations to the relatives of the individual killed in the clash as well as to those injured in it.
