Even though it has been confirmed that pesticides used in farming in the country contain the chemical ‘Arsenic,’ proper research in to the issue has been disregarded “amidst pressure from multinational companies,” says the National Freedom Front.

The professors and senior professors that have conducted research in this regard have been bought by companies producing these pesticides, accused Piyasiri Wijenayake, a member of the NFF political committee.

He claimed that even the Agriculture Minister has fallen into the trap and issued a statement that the country’s rice does not contain Arsenic.
