Bus fare hike in the offing

The Private Bus Owners Association stated that they will resort to trade union action if bus fares are not revised by at least a minimum of 10%.

 

Speaking at a press conference held today (20) Chairman of the Association Gamunu Wijeratne said that if the minimum bus fare is not increased by 2 rupees they will be compelled to launch a bus strike from the 27thof this month.

 

He further stated that the Government will need to hold discussions regarding the revision of bus fares within this week.

 

He added that since there has been no proper revision in bus fare during the last two years private bus owners have faced much difficulties.
