A demonstration organized by the ‘Api Sri Lankikayo’ organization today (June 23) in Kilinochchi, demanding authorities to locate missing Tamil youths, was obstructed by security forces who claimed that the area was under military rule, Udul Premaratne of the Inter-University Students Federation claimed.

He stated that security forces had also arrested two of the organizers who have still not been released while some of the family members of the victims who were invited to the demonstration were forcibly loaded onto buses and sent away.

Furthermore, Premaratne alleged that security forces had declared that the public was not allowed to stage demonstrations in the area as Kilinochchi was under military rule.

He stated that the government should release the two persons who were arrested and take measures to establish a democratic form of rule in Kilinochchi and the North.
