Measures have been taken to distribute all the registered mail that has piled up at the Postal Department as a result of the strike held by the postal service officials, the Ministry of Postal Services stated.
Ministry Secretary Hemasiri Fernando stated that the mail will be distributed within the next two days by a special team working 24 hours.
It was reported that over 80,000 mails had piled up at the postal headquarters alone after the strike which in turn signalled the special distribution programme.
Despite the protest the Lanka Postal Services Union has stated that authorities are yet to take measures to meet their demands.
