The Ceylon Teachers’ Services Union (CTSU) has decided to refrain from Advanced Level paper-marking in August until the issues regarding University Lecturers have been addressed, CTSU General Secretary Mahinda Jayasinghe said.

This decision came about after University lecturers had pulled out of A/L paper marking based on various unanswered demands made to the government. The CTSU claimed that the government’s inaction on these matters could severely affect the future of the students.

Jayasinghe stated that as the standard of paper marking cannot be guaranteed without the help of the university lecturers and in view of the future well-being of Lankan students, the teachers in the country will not be willing to come forward for paper marking.
