Sri Lanka to allow Chinese Yuan in international transactions

Sri Lanka’s central bank said it will allow China’s currency to be used in international transactions at authorized banks.

 

Permitting the use of the Yuan in banking transactions will facilitate trade and investment between the two countries, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka said in a statement.

 

The central bank also allows international banking transactions in 13 other foreign currencies. The other currencies in the designated list are Australian Dollar, Canadian Dollar, Danish Kroner, Euro, Hong Kong Dollar, Japanese Yen, New Zealand Dollar, Norwegian Kroner, Pound Sterling, Singapore Dollar, Swedish Kroner, Swiss Franc and United States Dollar.
