UPDATE: Private security firms get common uniform

July 1, 2011   10:23 am

All officers employed at private security firms in Sri Lanka must wear a common uniform from today, the Government Information Department said. This has been done in under the new guidelines issued by the Defence Ministry.

The aim is to prevent security firms from issuing uniforms that look similar to army fatigues, Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) Director General Lakshman Hulugalle said.

Therefore the Ministry of Defence has informed all private firms providing security services to issue a common uniform baring light colors to their respective officers.

The MCNS further stated that the firms should also receive Defence Ministry approval for these uniforms.
