New laws for lunch packets

July 6, 2011   01:47 pm

New regulations are to be introduced by the Colombo Municipal Council on the sale of lunch packets within the city. Accordingly all packets would have to carry a seal with information such as the manufacturers name, address, date and time the food was prepared, Chief Medical Officer of the Colombo Municipal Council Dr. Pradeep Kariyawasam said.

Kariyawasam added that the lunch packets must be sold within four hours of being cooked under the new regulations.

Lunch packets transported from outside Colombo must carry a certification from a Public Health Inspector of the respective area, he added.
