Court permits detention of suspect, providing false info to Channel 4

Colombo Magistrate’s Court today (July 08) granted permission to the CID to detain and question an individual arrested under suspicion for providing false information to Channel 4.


The suspect was taken into custody following information received he had provided false information that the Sri Lanka Army had committed war crimes, Police stated at Court.


Police informed court that further interrogation of the suspect, arrested on June 31 in Sri Lanka after returning from UK, was necessary.


The Magistrate’s Court granted permission for the detention and questioning of the individual after considering the presented facts.
