Scan Products, a division of C.W. Mackie PLC, recently conducted a CSR project to develop and refurbish a section of the Horana Base Hospital situated 4km from the state-of-the-art Scan bottled water and Sunquick manufacturing factory.

The hospital is the primary source of medical care for people living in the city of Horana and the surrounding area and has continuously contributed to society, despite having urgent needs which were keeping the hospital from functioning at its best.

The re-constructed ward was handed over to the hospital under the patronage of the Chief Operating Officer for Scan Products Division Mr. Mangala Perera, and the Director of the Horana Base Hospital Dr. Thamara Kalubowila along with other employees from Scan.

Speaking at the event Mr. Mangala Perera stated, “We, at Scan Products, are proud to have had this opportunity to contribute productively to the community we serve in. We have constantly tried to find ways to give back to the people we serve. Seeing our staff commit to the project and truly enjoy seeing the difference it has made is just another positive thing we have reaped from this.”

On a visit to the hospital, the Scan Products division identified many of the hospitals needs, especially the refurbishment of ward number 10. The subsequent refurbishment that followed in this Ward was done under the supervision of the Director of the hospital Dr. Thamara Kalubowila who played a key role in giving the Scan Products Division the opportunity to make a difference.

The Scan team worked tirelessly to bring the Ward 10 up to standard. They coordinated the rebuilding of certain sections of the ward to improve shelter to the patients and hospital staff, improved the amenities within the ward, repaired, repainted and replaced damaged items bringing the ward to an altogether excellent standard that delighted the hospital staff.
