Ranil expresses concerns over elections

The police have not taken appropriate measures to curb the election law violations that have occurred, Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe stated in Parliament today (July 21).
He accused the government of using state property for election purposes and obstructing opposition candidates from conducting their election work.
In reply to the Opposition Leader’s comments, MP Nimal Siripala De Silva voiced the government’s pledge that a free and fair election will be held with the cooperation of the Elections Commissioner as well.
Furthermore, he stated that there was no need for fear or doubt regarding the upcoming local government election.
