Colombo, Sri Lanka, July 2011: In keeping with the recent IPO promise of island wide expansion, PC House PLC inaugurated its newest branch in Mullaitivu, on the island’s north-east coast recently.

This new branch is the first ICT related outlet to be opened in Mullaitivu, bringing the opportunities of technology to a community long deprived of this facility. This outlet will also provide a full range of IT related products at very competitive prices, inclusive of world renowned Brands of the highest quality. This brings the total number of retail and regional branches to 37 after the recent additions in Batticaloa, Kegalle and Matale.

“Our fundamentals have been to remain strong and get ahead of the curve in ICT. Opening a branch in Mullaitivu is another example of our deep commitment to invest further in laying a solid foundation for sustainable long-term growth in this strategically positioned distribution network,” said Mr. S.H.M. Rishan, Chairman of PCH.

This exclusive branch outlet will offer branded hardware and software of the latest technology at affordable prices. “We intend to conduct B2B sales and promoting active business entrepreneurship within these areas,” said Thufail Musadeen, Head of Regional and Retail Business.

For the first three months, PCH will offer free service for ICT related products, irrelevant of whether it was bought from PCH, exclusively to the public sector institutes in the area. “This is a free service we are offering to all, especially to the government institutes, including schools in the Mullaitivu district,” said Rishan. “We believe that, as a responsible corporate, it is our duty to do the right thing by offering these services.” These are areas that have been deprived of ICT, good education, proper facilities and better employment opportunities due to uncertain circumstances of a 30-year conflict. PCH will also offer basic training on computer technology and interactive sessions for students and divisional secretaries, much like the branch offerings in Galle, Hambantota and Matara.

PCH is also making major investments in human resources for its continued growth and will recruit staff for the branch from the area. “These people will be trained in Colombo and employed in our branch in Mullaitivu. This is in keeping with our IPO promise to promote employment, provide knowledge and position the company as a socially responsible entity,” said Rishan.

According to Rishan, the company will spend a considerable investment on human resource recruitment and training to ensure the highest standards of customer and after sales services. A recruitment drive will be conducted shortly and eligible youth will be hired and trained in Colombo before being deployed at the Mullaitivu branch.

Additionally, as a socially responsible entity, PCH intends to assist disadvantaged schools in Mullaitivu to develop their IT infrastructure so that these children have a head start in their education and future.

PCH is the new corporate brand identity for PC House PLC which was recently listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange. The new brand identity reflects the change from a family owned business to a public quoted company with a vision to be the benchmark in ICT in Sri Lanka.

PC House PLC was incorporated as a limited liability company in the year 2000, after having commenced business in 1997 and following it’s listing on the CSE became PCH. Its Board of Directors consists of Messrs S.H.M. Rishan, Mangala Boyagoda, Sarath Wikramanayake, Modarage Thilakasiri, Shanti Kumar Nadarajah, Kuvera de Zoysa and Mrs. Sharmila Rishan.
