The Ministry of Health warns that severe action will be taken against traders selling food items prepared with certain artificial colourings which are harmful to health. Food inspectors will be given substantial authority to operate in this regard, the Ministry stated.

These steps have been taken in response to the several complaints received by the Health Ministry regarding the sale of such food with added artificial colourings.

Information has also been received of certain traders adding dangerous artificial colouring to rice to make white rice look like red rice, it has been reported.
