Truck driver arrested after accident kills 2, injures 4

Two people were killed and another four injured following a traffic accident, involving two bicycles and a speeding container truck, which occurred along the Batticaloa-Trincomalee highway (A-15) today (July 24) morning in the Murakottanchenai area.
Eravur Police revealed that the container truck had lost control while traveling at a high speed before hitting the two cyclists and nearby pedestrians.
The two individuals traveling on the bysicles were reportedly killed on the spot while the four wounded pedestrians were rushed to the Batticaloa Hospital.
Eravur Police, which is conducting an investigation into the incident, confirmed that the driver of the container truck and his assistant have been taken into custody.
