July 26, 2011   11:13 am

The Ministry of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms is to introduce a computerized data system which includes information regarding the inmates of every prison in the country. Measures in this regard have already begun while the data system is expected to be completed within 3 months, its Secretary A. Dissanayake stated.

So far there has not been such a data system for the country’s prisoners, therefore difficulties have arisen in obtaining information regarding a certain prisoner, he pointed out.

The Secretary added that, the assistance of the Student Information Centre has also been obtained for this task.
