VIDEO: TNA should show ability through devt - JHU

Forces hostile to the country have been given a good answer through this Local Government election, said JHU General Secretary and Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka.

“Even though the Tamil National Alliance secured power in 18 Local Government institutions in the North, they had managed to beat the United People’s Freedom Alliance only by a small percentage of votes.”

Therefore the election result does not express a message that the Tamil public needs a Federal Administrative System, he stated during a JHU press briefing held today (July 26).

What the TNA should proceed to do now is not provoke the Tamil people, but to develop these areas through the Local Government bodies it won, Champika Ranawaka, the Minister of Power and Energy, pointed out.

He emphasized that even the Tamil National Alliance has to accept the country’s popular opinion and act accordingly, “instead of acting in a manner that would take the country backwards.”

Since the past the Muslim people of this country have been united with the Sinhalese, as a result they have now achieved a high position, the Minister said adding that, Tamils are faced this tragedy due to taking up arms over the encouragement of those such as Chelvanayagam.

We have to make sure that such an unfortunate situation does not arise again in the future, Champika Ranawaka further expressed.
