The two main suspects wanted by police over the robbery of cash and jewellery from the People’s Bank at Putthur in Batticaloa on June 30 were arrested today by the Mannar police.

Six persons including the two main suspects were taken into custody by a team led by the Inspector of the Mannar headquarters police with the assistance of the Sri Lanka Navy intelligence wing officers while the suspects were in a lodge prior to fleeing overseas.

A Jeep in which the group had arrived in Mannar too had been taken into custody. The suspects were brought to Colombo for further interrogation, said the police media spokesman.
