Ranil Wickramasinghe who was in London on an official visit to attend the 57th session of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference is scheduled to return to the country today (August 1).
The Opposition Leader was initially slated to arrive on August 03 after concluding his tour, however has suddenly decided to cut short his stay and return to Sri Lanka today, UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake stated.
It has been reported however that the reason for the UNP Leader’s abrupt return is the prevailing problematic situation concerning the United National Party leadership.
Karu Jayasuriya the other day had accepted fellow Deputy Leader Sajith Rremadasa’s request to takeover party leadership.
