National ID compulsory for A/L Exam

The National Identity Card has been made compulsory for the G.C.E Advanced Level Examination that will be held this month. The Commissioner General of Registration of Persons Department Jagath Wijeweera said that applicants who do not have National ID Cards can obtain it through the special service being carried out by the Department.
The Advanced Level Examination will commence on the 8th of this month.
Meanwhile, The Commissioner General of Examination Anura Edirisinghe said that the National ID Card is compulsory for sitting for the examination. He said that the results of the applicants who fail to present the National ID Card will not be released.
As per the Commissioner General of Registration of Persons Department, majority of the advanced level applicants have obtained National IDs by now. He said that arrangements have been made to issue ID cards for those who do not have them expeditiously. He also said that a special counter has been opened for this purpose, and it is not necessary that the students should come personally to obtain IDs. Parents or Guardians could obtain it.
It has also been requested that if there are any problems in this regard to contact telephone number 0112-585 043 or fax to number 0112- 583 122, the Govt. Information Department said today.
