The TNA confirmed that it had presented three conditions during the most recent round of talks held with the government due to the lack of progress in the discussions. There have been no proper responses from the government party for the discussion held thus far, TNA Parliamentarian M. Sumandiran said.
He stated that the party had agreed to continue with the talks after the government informs of its position of on the three conditions.
UPFA MP Sajin Vass Gunawardena had said yesterday (August 6) that the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) had given only 10 days time and that such a short time period was insufficient to meet their demands.
We requested the government to inform of its position on the three demands within 2 weeks, not to fulfill them in 10 days, Sumandiran clarified speaking to Ada Derana.
He further stressed that the said demands had been discussed for several months and that they had only requested to be informed of the government’s stance on them.
While the TNA had declined to provide a date for the next round of talks, M. Sumandiran stated that the TNA is prepared to continue discussions once the government has announced its position.
