Bus strike could affect A/L students

The private bus strike currently underway on the 285 bus route, from Horana to Kalawallawa, may cause difficulties to students sitting for G.C.E. A/L examinations tomorrow (August 8), the Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association warns.
Authorities should direct their attention towards this issue immediately, its President Gamunu Wijeratne urged.
He pointed out that so far 42 buses operating in that route have pulled out from transporting duties owing to the strike, which has been in effect for three (3) days.
If relevant authorities take immediate action and remove the two buses ‘inappropriately’ added to the route, bus operators are prepared to withdraw from the protest strike, Wijeratne informed.
