Provide at least 500 new buses to the Sri Lankan Transport Board (SLTB) through the next budget, as promised in the ‘Mahinda Chinthanaya’, the All Ceylon Transport Workers Union (ACTWU) requested from the government.

The SLTB has been provided 2263 buses by the government from 2005 until now, says General Secretary of the Union, Sepala Liyanage.

However according to the promise in the ‘Mahinda Chinthanaya’ the SLTB is yet to receive another 2237 buses, he mentioned.

Mr. Liyanage further requested that relevant funds be allocated for the Sri Lankan Transport Board “before the second term of the President is completed.”
