Need ethical code for LG candidates

Name only suitable individuals as candidates for the forthcoming Local Government election, the PAFFREL organization urged the country’s major political parties.
It is important that political parties introduce an ethical code of conduct for candidates contesting the election, Executive Director of the People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections, Rohana Hettiarachchi said.
A higher number of incidents of election violence involving members of the same party were reported during recent elections, he pointed out. “Such situations could be avoided through introducing an ethical code of conduct.”
