A student being hit and killed by a bus transporting garment factory workers has triggered a tense situation in the Kantale area. Ada Derana correspondent in the area said a protest staged by residents has caused heavy traffic along the Trincomalee -Kandy road.

It has been reported that 16 passengers of the bus were injured and an army bunker and a shop were also damaged from the accident, which occurred near the 87th Mile Post in the Trincomalee –Kantale road.
