Mihinthalaya Chief Incumbent ordered arrested

Chief Incumbent of Mihinthalaya Rajamaha Viharaya, charged with sexual abuse of a minor, has been ordered arrested and produced in court immediately. The monk is accused of repeatedly sexually molesting a 13-year-old girl.
Mihinthalaya Police yesterday (August 12) presented relevant facts to court according to complaint received pertaining to the incident.
Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Darshika Wimalasiri ordered that a medical examination be conducted on the victim and the report submitted to court while the girl is to be kept under probation care.
However, the Mihinthalaya Police told Ada Derana that the monk is suspected to have fled the area already.
