Sri Lankan soldiers are the best armed force personnel in the UN Peacekeeping force, Chief Government Whip Dinesh Gunwardena today said in parliament. He said this in reply to a question raised by UNP MP Ravi Karunanayaka.

Karunanayaka inquired as to how many Sri Lankan soldiers had served in the UN Peacekeeping forces since the year 2000. Gunawardena replied that since 2000, 12,210 army soldiers, 600 sailors, 610 Air Force personnel and 572 policemen had served in the peacekeeping forces.
