Local government elections for the remaining 23 bodies will be held on October 8, the Commissioner of the Elections Department, Mahinda Deshapriya told Ada Derana.
Department sources claimed that the previously announced date of October 15 had to be brought forward due to an emergency function on that day which requires the attendance of the Elections Department officials.
