Preference numbers to be issued by Aug 29

Preference numbers for the upcoming Local Government election are expected to be issued by Monday (August 29), Additional Elections Commissioner W.P. Sumanasiri said. In order to release preference numbers on that date nomination lists should reach the Election Secretariat as soon as possible, he stressed.
However, he added, nomination lists have been received only from three districts so far and once the remainder of the lists are received they will be organized in alphabetical order and preference numbers will be issued for the significant party.
