CAA begins gathering cement samples

The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) says it today (August 27) commenced obtaining samples of all types of cement that are in the market, under the instructions of Minister Johnston Fernando.
Minister of Cooperatives and Internal Trade, Johnston Fernando had instructed the Consumer Affairs Authority to run tests on cement due to the recent controversial situation regarding inferior cement.
Therefore the samples of cement retrieved today will be forwarded to a laboratory overseas and will be tested for quality, Assistant Director of the CAA Asela Bandara stated.
