Bharti Airtel, a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 19 countries across Asia and Africa, today announced that it has achieved the prestigious BS25999 certification in Sri Lanka from British Standards Institution (BSI). Achieved after a stringent and rigorous assessment process, this accreditation is symbolic of Airtel’s high benchmarks of service delivery and certifies the strength of the company’s voice and data services across its island wide network.

Commenting on the occasion, Amali Nanayakkara, CEO & MD – Sri Lanka, Bharti Airtel said, “The importance of uninterrupted communications in today’s business world is as important as the provision of uninterrupted utilities such as electricity and water. It is with this sense of importance that Airtel has put in place extensive measures to ensure that continuity in communications is available in Sri Lanka 24/7, so our customers can enjoy uninterrupted communication and robust business solutions. Today, as the British Standards Institute acknowledges our service benchmarks with its prestigious BS25999 certification – we strengthen our commitment of delighting our customers with quality service offerings”.

BSI’s BS 25999, the world’s first British standard for business continuity management (BCM), has been developed to assist in minimising the risk of business disruptions. Designed to sustain business during the most challenging and unexpected circumstances, the standard establishes the process, principles and terminology of Business Continuity Management providing a basis for understanding, developing and implementing business continuity. This accreditation responds to various corporate inquiries essential to a business critical environment and for the benefit of business partners – stamps the company’s business continuity processes with a seal of compliance with global performance benchmarks.

Originating as the world’s first national standards body, BSI is a world authority on management systems. Since its foundation in 1901, BSI Group has grown into a leading global independent business services organization that inspires confidence and delivers assurance to customers with standards-based solutions.
