‘No desire to impose unnecessary laws to burden public’

The government has no desire to impose unnecessary laws to burden the public, says acting Mass Media and Information Minister and Economic Development Deputy Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena. He asserted that through the relaxing of emergency laws the public has received a freedom hitherto absent.
Speaking during a press briefing today (September 9) to announce cabinet decisions at the Government Information Department, he added, however the government is prepared to take appropriate measures if an insecure situation arises in the country.
