The National Cooperative Council says it intends to continue importing cement from the Pakistani company ‘Lucky Cement’. The cement is to be released to the market under the name ‘Co-op Cement’.

The consignment of cement which was the cause for a major controversy in the country and finally attained the SLS certificate from Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) will be released to the market before September 20, according to the NCC.

The cement bags, which arrived in 25 containers, are scheduled to be distributed across the island by the Building Materials Corporation (BMC).
