11 incidents connected to LG polls reported

Election propaganda activities carried out against the law are being reported all areas where LG polls are to be held, says the People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL). However, major incidents of election related violence have not been reported, according to its Executive Director Rohana Hettiarachchi.
So far a total of 11 incidents in connection to the forthcoming Local Government election have been reported to the PAFFREL organization, he told Ada Derana.
They including two attacks taken place in Kandy and Ratnapura, Mr. Hettiarachchi stated while adding that several complaints regarding appointments, transfers and using of state powers have also been received.
He went on to request from all political parties to engage in canvassing by abiding the law with certain discipline.
