The second Test between Australia and Sri Lanka has ended in a draw after rain ended play early on the fifth and final day in Pallekele. Just 35.3 overs were bowled during the day in which Sri Lanka moved from its overnight score of 2 for 223 to 6 for 317 in the second innings, a lead of 80 runs with four wickets in hand.

Just 17 overs were possible in the first session and a heavy cloud cover indicated more inclement weather was in store for the rest of the day.

Angelo Mathews was unbeaten on 11 and Suraj Randiv was on four as Sri Lanka looked to deny Australia their second successive win in the three-match series.

The tourists won the first Test in Galle by 125 runs, AFP reports.
