VIDEO: Mervyn Silva intervenes to prevent animal sacrifice

Public Relations and Public Affairs Minister Mervyn Silva has reportedly intervened in order to take away the animals prepared to be sacrificed in a ritual at the Sri Bhadra Kali Amman Kovil in Munneswaram today (September 13).
Ada Derana correspondent reported that the Minister who had visited the Kovil in Chilaw today morning had ordered that the animals – chickens and goats- be taken to the police.
He had stated that he would travel to the police station later in the day and take measures to transport the animals to animal farms.
The animals were to be sacrificed today in an annual ritual at the Munneswaram Kovil, however the Chilaw Additional District Judge had issued an order temporarily suspending animal sacrifice.
