Vehicle owners who are seeking compensation for damages caused by the substandard petrol have been requested to hand over all the relevant documents to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) within the next 14 days.

The three-person committee set up for the compensation of these vehicle owners met for the first time yesterday (September 14).

It was decided that all those who made complaints of damages from June 5 to September 5 and have received reference numbers will be compensated while the CPC stated that around 3000 people are entitled for this compensation.

The complainants must present copies of their National Identification Card, the vehicle registration and insurance, a valid receipt from the garage at which the vehicle was repaired and an affidavit.

The CPC further stated that no decision had been taken yet to compensate those who complained after September 5.
