11 Sri Lankans charged with supplying false information to the Immigration officer by claiming they were in Belize to make a movie have pleaded guilty to the charge. They were each fined $350.00 ordered to pay forthwith, however as they were unable to pay they would in default serve three months in prison.
The Lankans who had arrived in Belize on one way tickets had claimed that they were in the Central American nation to make a movie featuring Belize’s blue hole.
However, 7newsbelize reported today that because “the Sri Lankans not only failed to come up with any money to make a movie, they also have no way to pay the four thousand US dollars each for their plane tickets home” they were escorted by Immigration Department officials to the Magistrate’s Court where they had pleaded guilty.
