CI succumbs to injuries from murder-suicide ‎

The STF Chief Inspector who was injured in a shooting incident, resulting in the death of an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), also succumbed to injuries a short while ago at the Maha-Oya Hospital.

The Chief Inspector had opened fire on the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of the Police Special Task Force (STF) before turning the gun on himself inside the STF camp at Maha-Oya, Ampara earlier today.

Both officers were rushed to the Maha-Oya Hospital, however the ASP had succumbed to injuries shortly afterwards.

The Chief Inspector who was critically wounded was to be airlifted and transported to the Kandy General Hospital. However, he was pronounced dead before the helicopter even reached the Maha-Oya Hospital, hospital sources stated.
