75 election related arrests, 64 complaints

A total of 75 individuals had been arrested in various incidents connected to the upcoming Local Government election, Head of the Police Election Secretariat, Senior DIG Gamini Navaratne said.

Most of them were released on bail, he pointed out while adding that 64 complaints had been received by the Secretariat regarding the election.

The Senior DIG further added that 10 vehicles used for unlawful election propaganda activities have been taken into police custody.
