Before formulating gallant plans to develop Colombo, the UNP should first take steps to get electricity back to its headquarters ‘Sirikotha’, Deputy Minister for Economic Development Lakshman Yapa Aberwardena said today.
He informed a press briefing today that recently the electricity supply to Sirikotha was suspended. Hence the UNP should first focus on maintaining the headquarters and paying the salaries of its employees before developing Colombo.
Aberwardena added that though the UNP accuses that the Colombo Municipal Council operates without transparency, it was the UNP that lacked transparency. Even though the UNP had an opportunity to field a more competent candidate for the post of mayor, instead the Opposition leader Ranil Wickremasinghe put forward someone that he could control, Aberwardena further alleged.
