Duminda Silva will be arrested on arrival: CID tells court

The CID informed the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today (29) that steps will be taken to arrest MP Duminda Silva, who is a suspect in the murder of Baratha Lakshman Premachandra, as soon as he arrives in the country.
Appearing on behalf of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), ASP Shani Abeysekara stated in court that the Parliamentarian’s medical condition is currently being examined and that the Attorney General’s advice has been sought regarding the his arrest.
ASP Abeysekara further stated that the court order to arrested MP Duminda Silva and produced him before court will be carried out according to the AG’s instruction after the suspect arrives in Sri Lanka.
Colombo Magistrate’s Court on November 15 ordered the CID to arrest Duminda Silva in connection to the killing of former MP Baratha Lakshman Premachandra in the Mulleriyawa shooting incident.
Duminda Silva, who is currently undergoing treatment in Singapore, was also hospitalized with head wounds following the incident which took place on Election Day.
