December 1, 2011   02:19 pm

Lawyers representing former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka in the trial at bar of the White Flag case have appealed against the verdict handed down on November 18. Sarath Fonseka was found guilty by a divided decision in the case regarding the ‘White Flag’ statement and sentenced to 3 years in prison by the Colombo High Court.

The appeal petition which was filed in the Supreme Court states that the decision meted by the three judge bench which presided over the trial was illegal.
