If the recommendations of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission(LLRC) report is implemented Sri Lanka will be able to deflect some of the pressure exerted on it at the United Nations Human Rights Council, UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayaka said today addressing a press briefing.
He added that unfortunately the government is distancing itself from the LLRC and its recommendations to a point where one questions whether the Commission was appointed by the Government itself.
If the Government continues along this ignorant path the international pressure faced by Sri Lanka would only escalate, he claimed. Attanayaka also added that the UNP is not interested in protecting the government, however wants to protect the Sri Lanka and its people at any cost.
