‘Manusath Derana’, a humanitarian effort by TV Derana, today (August 5) launched its first step towards assisting persons affected by the drinking water crisis in rural areas experiencing dry weather conditions, by distributing equipment worth over Rs 1 million, including 100 water tanks. As part of the first phase, Manusath Derana donated forty water tanks to Dimbulagala, twenty tanks to Welikanda, ten to Medirigiriya, fifteen to Hingurakgoda, five to Lankapura and ten water tanks Thamankaduwa.the first phase of the programme was carried out with the help of donations received from Sri Lanka and abroad. The next phase is scheduled to be held in Galle, Hambantota and other areas affected by the drought.
