Threat call to Minister made from phone booth – police

The number from which Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa had allegedly received a threatening phone call has been traced back to a street telephone booth, police said.
The telephone booth in question has been identified and an extensive investigation has been launched into the incident, police spokesman SSP Prishantha Jayakody said.
The Environment Minister had lodged a complaint yesterday claiming his wife’s mobile phone had received a call demanding that he does not get involved in the impeachment of the Chief Justice.
The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) had commenced an investigation into the incident.
Minister Anura Yapa was appointed the Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee for the impeachment of the Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake.
