The Navy arrested 30 persons attempting to illegally travel to Australia on a boat off the coast of Weligama in Matara, Army Spokesman Commander Kosala Warnakulasuriya stated.
The group was apprehended 20 nautical miles off the coast of Weligama, the Army Spokesman said.
The arrested group was brought to the Galle harbour.
