The route permit of buses supporting the strike action scheduled to be launched from midnight today (19) will be cancelled, the Chairman of the National Transport Commission (NTC) Roshan Gunawardana said.
He stated that the strike planned by the All Island Private Bus Companies Federation, based on several demands including a bus fare hike, was “unfair”.
The federation’s President Stanley Fernando had stated that the strike would continue until their demands are met.
However, the Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association (LPBOA) and the Western Province Bus Companies Federation have opted to refrain from joining the strike.
