Domestic dispute leads to self immolation

A woman died after setting herself on fire following an argument with her husband which spiraled out of control. The victim’s husband was also admitted to the hospital for suffering burn injuries which he sustained while attempting to save her.
The couple had got into an argument at their residence in Horamulawatta in Rakwana when the woman had poured kerosene over her body and had set herself on fire.
The man had attempted to save her and had sustained injuries while both were admitted to the Kahawatta hospital.
The woman had succumbed to her injuries last night (May 19) while receiving treatment at the hospital.
Police confirmed that the reason for the self-immolation was a domestic dispute.
