Gold worth Rs 40m seized...

A 50-year-old woman from Chavakachcheri was arrested today (02) with 70 gold biscuits worth nearly Rs 40 million and several currency notes including foreign currency.

She was arrested with the gold, weighing 7kg in total, near the Sangani railway station in Chavakachcheri, Jaffna.

Police found 70 gold biscuits, each valued at Rs 562,000, in her possession and therefore the total gold is estimated to be worth Rs 39,340,000.
